CAREER CHANGES                                                                                                                   TRAVEL

Delta, AT&T, Worldspan?

In  September Delta announced the intention to transfer the ownership of it's Reservations systems to Worldspan.  Delta also agreed to form a Joint Venture company (as yet unnamed) with AT&T to provide for other computer needs.  Tony & I were both offered positions at Worldspan.  I have accepted the offer and will begin work January 1.  Tony has taken a position in the Reservations Services Department at Delta as a Baggage Service Customer Coordinator.  This brings to an end my career at Delta.  The past 11 years have been wonderful and I am thankful to have had the opportunity to work for such a great company.  Lets hope 1995 is a profitable year for everyone!

World Travelers

J

anuary, we had the pleasure of taking Tony’s mother, Dorothy with us to Reno and Lake Tahoe.

F

ebruary, I took a ski trip with my office to Crested Butte.  Tony stayed home since he had not yet fully recovered from his dude ranch accident last year.  He’ll feel like going next year.

M

arch brought a career change for me when I accepted a position as LAN Installation Specialist on the ‘Airport of the Future’ project. With the demands of my new job, we were only able to fit in a couple of day trips.  We went to a Brave’s practice game in West Palm Beach and to dinner at the Madison Park restaurant in Greensboro.

A

pril, Tony & I decided to go to Europe but discovered Saturday before we were to leave on Tuesday that my passport had expired. So Monday, I went to New Orleans to get my passport renewed.  As it turned out, we postponed our trip anyway, but I had fun eating  a Muffaleta at Central Grocery and touring the French Quarter.  We won $12.50 in the Florida Lottery so Tony flew to Pensacola to collect.  Tony’s brother & his wife were on a cruise in Saint Thomas so we flew down to meet them and do a little shopping.

M

ay was the month I started doing some business traveling.   I spent two weeks in Cincinnati installing a local area network.  Tony came up to visit while I was there.  We went to Daytona Beach too, but rainy weather cut our trip short.

J

une, we spent a week in St. Thomas.  While there, we took a ferry over to St. Johns to do some snorkeling.

J

uly 4th weekend, we went to Frankfurt and spent a few days driving around Germany before we flew home from Munich.  Tony flew to Pensacola again for Lottery tickets.  My office is upstairs from the DASH office at the airport, and a couple of lion cubs missed a connection and had to spend the night in the DASH office, so when I came in for work the next day, I got to play with them.  Fortunately someone had a camera, so we got to capture  the Kodak moment!

A

ugust, I was busy with more business travel.  I was in Boston to install a local area network to allow the Delta Shuttle passengers to have ticketless travel.  Tony took his annual salmon fishing trek to North Young Lake near Juneau.

S

eptember was spent with me in Boston on business.  Tony came up a couple of times for dinner.  We found some great Italian restaurants in the North End.   I had a couple of new additions to my golfing ensemble for the Delta Ladies Golf Tournament in West Palm Beach.  The most coveted was my new bathing suit with a golf ball and tee on it.  I was the envy of the pool set!  I also managed to maintain my position in the next to the last flight, but still can’t seem to win one of those elusive trophies!

O

ctober, I got sent to Bermuda to install their new network.   What a tough job!  Tony came a couple of times and brought friends and we rented mopeds and did some snorkeling.  I got hit in the neck with a golf ball as we were driving our scooters past a golf course!  I’m OK though.  Tony’s niece Emma was born on October 27!

N

ovember was pretty stressful due to our having to make our career choices.  I went to Nice with the girls from the office and we had quite an adventure.  They had record floods in southern France and Northern Italy.  The

airport in Nice closed due to flooding so we hooked up with a couple from Salt Lake City who gave us a ride to Milan.  We made the best of the situation by touring Monte Carlo and dining on wonderful Italian food and desserts.   A friend got married in Albuquerque and we got to attend the rehearsal dinner and wedding.  Afterward, we drove to Santa Fe.  We planned to go to Ireland over Thanksgiving, but the flights filled up at the last minute so we decided to go to England instead.  We rented a car and toured the Lakes Region in Northern England.

D

ecember, we’re going to try to fit one more trip in, but we’re not sure exactly when or where.  We’re thinking probably Las Vegas.  That way, we can win some extra money with which to buy your Christmas gift!  Be looking for it!

Friends & Family

Tony’s brother Tim & his wife Barbara have a new addition.   Emma DuVal Morris was born October 27, 1994 and she’s beautiful.  Mary Jane & Robert’s three, Jonathan, Jared, & Lauren, are growing by leaps and bounds and are very busy with sports.  We have been to soccer games & baseball games.  We didn’t get to see Jonathan perform in his first football season, and we’ve missed all of the basketball games, but we’re looking forward to Lauren’s first ballet recital.   I hope she has inherited all of my grace and charm.

I have heard from several college buddies this year.  Lisa LeVan (Grantham) had a bouncing baby boy.  Joyce Neal (Shoemaker) survived the floods in Albany with no damage.  Beth McNeil (Abernathy) is acquiring some international culture in Alabama.  Beverly Saxton (Williams) is working for Steve now and has a nice new home (well, it's 3 years old, but she finally let me see it).  Nadine Walker was considerate enough to get married and give me an excuse to see her, Beverly, Beth Edwards (Lane), Elaine Martin (Smith) & Patti Truelove.  My Delta friends Angel & Scott Meriwether have relocated to Denver and are celebrating their first anniversary.  Brad Hulme, who was my protégé a couple of years ago, has moved to Denver and gotten married.  He already has a son (playmate) too!

Happy Holidays

Best wishes to you and yours for a jolly holiday season.  Hope you have a wonderful year next year and that we get to see you soon!  Please let us hear how you are.
